Thank you to all who are making our 2008 show a spectacular one. Learning our songs and choreography is top most, and so many persons have stepped up to prepare and carryout administrative activities as well. We thank our ladies who have helped with ideas for the show, making preparations and providing administrative assistance. The preparation, participation and cooperation of members and our ladies are what make this chapter a live and growing one. We are pleased to honor at our show our brother and sister service organizations in the communities. We honor the volunteers and their contributions in the many local clubs of Lions International, Kiwanis International, Rotary International, Pilot International, SERTOMA, Optimist International, and Junior League International. As a service organization, our Manhattan Barbershop Chapter contributes to fulfill its charitable mission of supporting music in our schools and communities. From 2001 through 2007, the chapter and its members and quartets contributed $2,400 in grants to public music teachers in Manhattan and across the State, $6,800 to the K-State music program, $4,000 to the Manhattan Band Shell, $4,570 to local churches, $1,800 to the Manhattan Arts Center for youth music programs, and $1,585 to other charities or school groups. We have been able to help our international service project supporting music in our schools and communities by providing $21,200 to the Harmony Foundation. For the balance of the year, we look forward to having fun singing in our chapter meetings, having a joint meeting with the Topeka chapter on June 12, performing at church services during some summer Sundays, attending Harmony University and COTS (Chapter Operations Training Seminar) and who knows what great things the future will bring to us.♪ |
