Barbershop has a new fan

Sally Soileau!

Dear Little Apple Chorus,

It was delightful to meet those of you who made the memorable trip to the newly established Barbershop Harmony Society home in Nashville for the Barbershop conference! All of the Manhattan couples were so welcoming and I was pleased to be part of the Little Apple Chorus group as a guest with Jim Lindquist, a great baritone from your group. I grew to appreciate many talented voices that blended well together from the quartet and chorus performances during the competitions, entertainment times, and intercessions in the lobby areas. What a remarkable talent that you all have in common that can be shared and appreciated by all of us in attendance!

As a rookie in attendance, I found the musical performances to be highly entertaining. Most impressive was the superb quality of the voices, and the amount of time that must have gone into the preparation for the musical numbers by the quartets and the choruses! The costumes, the singing, the comedy and the entire event were all awesome! What a find! A whole new world that I had really no prior knowledge of, with so many members, so much talent, and now so many new friends to share!

I noted that the crowd at the Grand Ole Opry applauded loudest for the Barbershop Quartet perform

ance, who were such crowd pleasers and so professional.

It was a thrill to see the Oakridge Boys in person while they were being honored as Barbershop Harmony Society members and I was excited to hear them sing to us. But honestly, they were not the most talented singers/performers that I experienced while at the event. I would have to give higher ranking to many of the quartets who performed during the conference, and that is the truth!

Sharing the Barbershop event with a group of friends really enhanced the overall pleasure with the added fellowship and fun of joining in a new circle of friendship in the Nashville music environment. Nashville, music city, was an appropriate setting to be introduced to so many of Jim’s talented barbershop friends. I was especially glad to share time with the members and wives from The Manhattan Music Machine quartet. What a wonderful way to share your love of music with others, through a venue that creates such joy and excitement! I truly appreciated having the lobby serenade with some Manhattan singers with Jim included. I think you fellows sound just fine!

I am looking forward to Anaheim next year!  Best wishes to all of my new Little Apple Chorus friends from a new barbershop fan in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.♪

Looks like some of the Vikings were try to capture several of our members wives.  Carol Hanson, Kay Ridley, Sharon Purvis and Joyce Mott.
