"  Dad, where did I come from?" asks Harry Harmony 10-years-old son. Harry was shocked that a 10 year old would be asking a question like that. He was hoping to wait a few more years before he would have to explain the facts of life, but he figured it was better a few years early than a few days too late, so, for the next two hours he explained every thing to his son. When he got finished, he asked his son what prompted his question to which his son replied, "I was talking to the new kid across the street and he said he came from Ohio, so I was just wondering where I came from."

As you can see by all of the articles, it has been a busy summer for the Little Apple Chorus.

We were not able to attend the convention this year but I found out that our InCider Press came in second in the web contest .  Wow.  Thanks for all the contributions to you guys for your articles. And if you haven’t yet sent one, you can do it.

In talking with Harvey, we decided to put an earlier deadline for news articles, to I don’t have to try so hard to get it finished right after the board meeting for you.  So Please send your  articles the week before board meeting.  I will save space to include the actions of the board, so you will know the latest information.

We are welcoming  our 16th exchange student this week.  Julien is from Belgium.  I am sure he will be with us at several of the functions of the chorus, so you can meet him at some time.

We did get to hear some awesome music on the last night of Harmony University.  Of course it was great.

At a very active board meeting on August 11th the board decided that we should encourage our members to attend the Central States District Convention in Cedar Rapids this October.  It was decided that we would provide transportation (probably a bus) for members and their wives.  This does  not to depend on whether the chorus competes in the chorus contest.

The board accepted the invitation for the chorus to sing at the Veteran's Day dinner at the American Legion this November 11th.

The board also approved December 18th as the date for our annual Installation/Christmas Banquet.

We will be having Barbershop 101 on a schedule of about once a month.

Open House was scheduled for October 23rd.♪

Thanks to all who participated in the Summer Church Performances.  We had a good representation from our chorus on each of the three Sunday mornings.  We are well aware that many of you had to give up your weekly Sunday morning responsibilities (teaching, ushering, providing music, etc.) to participate, and as you could tell, your sacrifices were greatly appreciated by those who heard us sing.

The two Methodist churches provided refreshments on two of the Sundays, and Pete and Helen Cooper provided refreshments to us on the final Sunday.  Thank you, Pete and Helen for delicious fruit, pastries, coffee and juices!  And, if you are a member of one of the Methodist churches we sang in, please pass our thanks on to them

Next year we hope to find dates that are acceptable to even more of our singers as this time spent in our area churches provide us with wonderful inspiration, and it would be good for all of us to be able to have this experience
