At the urging of his doctor Harry Harmony moved to Arizona. After settling in he met a neighbor who was older man. Harry said, ”My Doctor told me to move here for my health. Is it a really good place to live?” “ It sure is, the man replied, “When I first arrived here I couldn’t say a word , hardly had any hair on my head, I didn’t have the strength to walk across the room and I had to be helped out of bed.” “That is wonderful.” Harry said.” How long have you live here?” I was born here the neighbor replied. |

Techniques that should always apply in your singing. 1) Softer singing is always preferred, especially for older voices such as ours. Not only is it of better quality, but it’s much healthier for us—softer does NOT = slower; 2) Warm-up can and must be done on your way to any rehearsal or performance - the best is to softly hum thru your songs and then sing them in a whisper - as you drive to the event; 3) Higher = Softer; Lower = ↑ Volume Soften your voice as you progress up the scale…. 4) R’s should be sung with tongue against the back of your bottom teeth… 5) Middle T’s "Huh," you ask? The letter T in the middle of a word is seldom wanted to be heard: of-Ten, should be sung as of-Den or of-en… follow your director’s wish. 6) Phrases, not words are to be sung; 7) Tell Stories, don’t sing words, as if you were reading the lyrics to children; 8) Watch the Director—I know it’s hard, but try, eh? |

Sell those ads By Jim Lindquist Co Show Chairman |

Little Apple Chorus members can significantly impact the financial success of our spring show by selling program ads. John Desper and Lee Ann are working very hard to make sure we reach as many businesses as we can to give them the opportunity to support our Chapter and advertise in our show program. Lee Ann, or someone else representing the program ad committee will be at chorus rehearsals 30 minutes early on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. to assist members as you pick up contact cards for Manhattan and area businesses. Lee Ann has sorted out your sales contacts from last year so you can easily pick up those cards. You can help us reach many more businesses by coming prepared with a list of businesses and professional people that you are willing to contact. Think of businesses |

you patronize, doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, etc. and prepare a list. If every member commits to making at least 10 contacts, we can set new records for financial support for our Chapter and increase the attendance at our show. 1. Give your list to Lee Ann when you arrive Thursday night. 2. Lee Ann will pull the cards for those businesses and professional people and be ready to give them to you at the break. 3. Pick up a program of last year's show that you can take with you to show how we can feature the business. 4. Pick up ticket vouchers from Loren Alexander to give to businesses depending on the size of their ad. (the number of vouchers for the different size ads is on the card you will get from Lee Ann) The vouchers can be exchanged at the McCain box office the day of the show for a show ticket and entry into McCain Auditorium. Return program advertising, business cards and money for ads to John Desper/Lee Ann and return the voucher accounting form to Loren Alexander by Thursday, April 3rd. ♪ |

We sure enjoyed our trip to Yellowstone and a visit with our daughter and her family the end of February. I enjoyed working with Singing Valentines. It is fun to take an order and hear the excitement as they are ordered and then to hear the story about how it turned out. A note to those of you who want a hard copy ( we are happy to provide them for you). Those of you who have requested one will have a label on it with your name. Please pick up that copy. Then we know you received yours and we won’t have to spend postage to send it to you. It will save the chapter some money. ♪ |
