The song titled “You Raise Me Up” can serve as our chapter’s motto. Members took to heart the suggestion by Byron Myers at our retreat that we are here to support and raise each other up in our singing and in our fellowship. I see each chapter member doing things that help accomplish this goal of supporting and raising each other up. Guys are there early every Thursday night chapter meetings setting up the chairs and risers, and others are setting up the welcome and literature table, and having the music ready for the meeting. Different members are coming in a half hour early before chapter meetings to learn the choreography. It is great to be a member of this chapter where everyone is stepping up to learn the songs, learning to perform the songs well from the risers and perfecting the choreography. Each member has learned the music. Isn’t it fun singing the songs well to hear those chords ring? We thank Ken Lang for his musical leadership and Don Thomson for his musical and chorographical leadership. Bart Bartholomew continues as our webmaster, Bob Ridley continues as our music librarian. Chuck Marr is carrying out the responsibilities of managing our uniforms. Fred Wachsmuth coordinates the setting up of the chairs and risers each week. Terry Nanninga, as well as Bart, takes photos for the InCider. Bill Hanson and his committee are planning the May open house. One can go on and on citing what different persons are doing to support the chapter. I have asked a couple of the chapter members to fill a couple of leadership posts. Travis Troyer will take the lead for Youth In Harmony (YIH), and Brian Arthaud-Day will continue being our Harmony Foundation leader. Terry Nanninga has taken on the leadership of developing membership biographical information. Our quartets are an important part of our show. They are singing a significant portion of the songs. We thank the elementary vocal musicians known as BAM (Bergman Awesome Musicians) for their upcoming contribution to our show. You know, it is interesting that the chorus is singing 55 percent of the measures being sung or about 23 of the 42 actual singing minutes. So the chorus, quartets and the elementary students are all contributing importantly to the April show. So, these thoughts highlight why we are a growing chapter. I think our joy of being and singing in this chapter will be evident to our friends and guests at the Open House on Thursday, May 15. ♪ |
