John Desper accepted from Harvey Kiser, chapter President, the BOTM certificate for both Lee Ann and himself. John and Lee Ann are cited for the exemplary contributions to the chapter for their leadership in the Corporate and Patron Ad Sales Program and for producing the show program booklet. Their team effort and leadership in this project is most appreciated. They established a new procedure to identify potential new advertisers and recording the results of the ad campaign. Lee Ann attended several chapter meetings distributing customer identification cards, tracking which member was contacting a business or person, and recording the sales results. John spent many long hours producing the show program booklet that was delivered to Hawley Printing. Thanks to both of you for your important contribution to our chapter this past month. |

A golfer hits a big slice on the first hole and his ball ends up behind a small shed. He's about to chip out when the caddie says, "Wait! I'll open the window and the door and you can hit a 3-wood right through the shed." After the caddie opens the escape route, the golfer makes a big swing. The ball nearly makes it, but hits the windowsill and bounces back and hits the golfer in the head. The next thing the golfer knows, he's standing at the Pearly Gates. Saint Peter sees him with his 3 wood in hand and says, "I guess you think you're a pretty good golfer." The guy says, "Hey, I got here in two, didn't I?" |

At the board meeting Monday evening May 12th President Harvey Kiser announced the the appointment of several committees. These are listed elsewhere in his article..." If you are contacted about serving on one of the committees, please at least consider serving. In most cases the chairmen will be trying to fill out their committees and will schedule a committee meeting. In addition to those committees, Harvey has asked J. Lester Hooper and Leonard Purvis to identify prospective new members from local High School yearbooks seeking men in the 35 to 50 year age range to target for invitation to a meeting or meetings. The board discussed participation in the Central States District Convention and Chorus Contest in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on October 11, 2008. We will explore to determine how many singers would commit to preparation for and attendance at that contest. We will also look into renting a bus for transportation to and from Cedar Rapids. This may mean that some or all members who participate may be staying in a hotel at least one night.♪ |

Would you like to hear one more time how great your show was? Well it was. I don’t know how Don can come up with such great ideas time and time again, but he does. And it is now just Don, but all you play an important part in having it be as good as it is. I am probably a bit prejudice (well maybe a lot) but we have seen several other chapter shows and they just lack the luster or something that our show has. I think I can speak on behalf of all the ladies that showed up to chapter meetings several times before the show, to help with various things in preparation for the show. It was fun and we are glad to help you enjoy your hobby. The last few pages will have some of the many pictures that I or Steve Seals or Terry Nanninga took of the show and preparation ahead of time. ♪ |
