The 2009 Installation banquet at the American Legion building drew 70 enthusiastic participants. Bob Swenson greeted each person in his personable way as he checked that we had paid. For a half hour the folks talked with one another and praised the table decorations and arrangement worked up by Dave Fink and Connie Lee. Many of us got in on a recent rumor that Dave and Connie had gotten married about a week ago, and it proved true; so at the official announcement to the entire group, we all applauded heartily. We also recognized Jim and Sally Lindquist's recent marriage. Love works its charms in our group, right? ♪ |

Editors note. Loren’s article is being split up and used to explain the pictures elsewhere. |

John Thomason served as master of ceremonies who knew how to have a lot of fun doing so. When he introduced Don Fuson, representative of Central States District, he had Don's four-page vita in front of him. As he read, he would select a role that Don has played in barbershop the past few years, then mumble and mutter as he skipped over several other items in the long list of Don's remarkable achievements. We in the audience reacted with spontaneous and enthusiastic laughter as John toyed with the possibly too-long introduction .♪ |

New President Bill Hanson |
|
Harvey Kiser, current President, had a slide show of the many activities that our Chapter carried out during the year. Many of the pictures came from Karen and Terry Nanninga. I believe we can all feel a sense of satisfaction in knowing how much our Chorus and quartets do during the year, and how much so many individuals contribute to making things run smoothly. After two years of enthusiastic leadership, Harvey turned the role of President over to Bill Hanson. Harvey will now concentrate on filling his major leadership role in CSD. |
|
Bill Hanson, President for 2010, wishes to do as he's done before, put an emphasis on growth of the Chapter. Bill has a long history of stellar work with barbershop harmony from our local Chapter to the national level. We wish him well and pledge our support in many ways. |

Manhattan Music Machine gave us their rendition of several seasonal songs, which became a highlight of the evening. Jim Lindquist served as spokesperson for the quartet, which includes Pete Cooper, Bob Swenson and Don Thomson. We enjoyed the new arrangements of familiar songs. |
