Would you and your wife/significant other like to have a seat in one of the front rows at the Fall CSD Convention in Lincoln October 9 & 10? You can have it by obtaining a new member before convention. Your reward for recruiting a new member is having that man join and grow our chapter. Then the Central States District is offering an additional reward. Don Blank, CSD’s President, is arranging for some ‘icing on the cake’ or sweetener to the reward. At the beautiful Lied Center, each new ‘Man of Note’ and his wife/significant other will have a seat in the front row of the auditorium. Also, the new member and his wife/significant other will join the ‘Man of Note’ in these front row seats. Remember, the new member will receive free registration. Don Blank’s concept is to have us stop Talking the Talk about membership, and Walk the Walk. Wouldn’t it be cool if all of our chapter chorus members and wives/significant others could all be seated together with the new members and spouses in the front rows of the Lied Center? The convention reward is the third of a three step process. The first step is the challenge to Walk the Walk and the second one is to attend the CSD Membership Workshop. This special membership workshop will be conducted by Chuck Greene. Chuck is a long-time barbershopper from South Carolina who has studied and developed a plan of attack to equip local chapters with the proper tools in the toolbox to accomplish their goals. Chuck strongly recommends the following leadership team members to attend: Music Director, Assoc/Asst Music Director; Music/Performance VP, Section leader, Judge-Coach-Arranger-top Quartet guy-other special chapter barbershop musician of depth, President, Membership/Chapter Development VP, and the best pure leader in the chapter even if he doesn't happen to hold a title. Our chapter board has voted to invest the $50 workshop fee for each chapter member who attends. Do not confuse this with the Chuck Greene membership workshop the next day that is a part of Harmony University. It is the same thing, and it costs twice as much. The CSD workshop is scheduled Saturday, July 25 at Missouri Western State University campus in St. Joe, Mo. It is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Together we can study his strategies for our chapter. I understand that Chuck has chapters choose their strategic priorities for the 21st-century. His workshop is called “Compellingly Attractive Chapter Meetings.” He states, “Organizations thrive when they honor people’s time with value, efficiency and fun.” Thanks to Bill Hanson, membership VP and committee of Steve Cross, Ken Garwick, Steve Fisher, and Chuck Marr for planning our Guest Nights this month. It is exciting to welcome visitors and let us make them all feel welcome and help them enjoy singing. Let’s see how many of us can be in one of those front row seats at the Fall Convention.♪ |
