In the March issue of the InCider Press, there was a wonderful article written by Bob Swenson under the headline, “Barbershoppers Are Like That.”  It struck me that this could become a regular feature in the newsletter, because Barbershopping does indeed seem to be a way of life, and I’m sure, just like the series on CBS News, “Everyone has a story.”  In that regard, I submit the following:

Around a table at Paddy O’Quigley’s during the weekly social time after Chapter meeting, the topic of conversation was Ken Lang’s daughter Kimberly’s upcoming wedding on March 13.  Ken mentioned that Kimberly would like to have a motor home pick up the wedding party after the ceremony at All Faiths’ Chapel, take them to Bill Snyder Family Stadium for some pictures, then deliver them to Houston Street Ballroom for the reception.  Bill Hanson said, “I could do that.”  Bill enlisted the help of Bob Swenson as “doorman,” and plans were underway.

The motor home was brought out of winter storage and spruced up.  The refrigerator was turned on so that the champagne that Kimberly and Greg put in it would be nice and chilled.  Carol Hanson bought purple and white balloons to float on the ceiling of the RV and add a festive touch.  Bill, Bob and Ken made a trial run with the motor home to make sure it could get up the hill to the south door of All Faiths’ Chapel.  Carol and Telva Swenson ran interference with their cars to make sure the RV had plenty of room to make turns and to park.

The big green motor home was waiting at the door to receive the wedding party after the ceremony, complete with a cluster of beer cans wired to the tow hitch in back (compliments of some of the male members of the party!).  With a full load of 16 people, the RV made its appointed rounds, and arrived safely and timely at Houston Street with three empty bottles of champagne.  Bill and Bob reported that the wedding party had a great time!  Personally, I wonder if they possibly could have had any more fun than the Chauffeur and Doorman did, because. . . . .
